Yongolailan is a Cuban multidisciplinary artist, DJ, producer, and live electronic performer based in New York City. Born and raised in Havana, his work moves between Afro-diasporic rhythms, Afro-Cuban tradition, Latin jazz, house, ambient music, and contemporary electronic production, shaping a distinctive sound rooted in Afro-Caribbean futurism. His debut project, Sueño Tropical, earned a Cubadisco Award in the Electroacoustic Music category, an artistic language that continues through his 2024 album HAVANECE and his evolving body of electronic and interdisciplinary work.
After relocating to New York, Yongolailan founded Caribbean Sea Sound in Brooklyn, an independent record label and creative platform connecting Caribbean cultural heritage with contemporary and international music production. Through the label and his work as a producer, he has collaborated with artists including Cimafunk, Arema Arega, Reinier Aldana, and Raúl Paz, among others. Across recordings, DJ sets, live electronic performances, and collaborative projects, Yongolailan transforms the rhythms, memories, and spiritual resonances of the Afro-Caribbean world into a forward-looking electronic language.
